If I build a new house on the Sunshine Coast will it have optic fibre?
The Sunshine Coast Council has included requirements for Fibre to the Premises (FttP) in the planning requirements of the Maroochydore, Palmview and Caloundra South Structure Plans.
These new developments represent the first opportunity to build digital economy infrastructure from the ground up.
As the new Planning Scheme is drafted consideration will be given to including the requirement for FttP in all new developments.
When this work is done at a large scale and constructed at the same time as the rest of the development, the costs can spread evenly and the selected Carriers and Retail Service Providers will be able to absorb the lion’s share of the cost.
Fibre to the Premises on the Sunshine Coast will be built to provide cost effective access to phone, broadband, education and health services that are world class.
For more information or if you are building today and want to ensure your new business/home location is fibre ready, please contact economicdevelopment@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au
