March 2009: Highly Commended ATUG 2009 Award
On 12 March 2009, the Connecting the Coast Project was presented a Highly Commended for the Government Award category at The Australian Telecommunications User Group (ATUG) 2009 National Awards for Effective Use of Broadband.
The Government Award was won by The Department of Environment and Conservation Western Australia Pollution Response Unit for their co-ordination between emergency services and its management of video and online records. The Department is using Broadband to integrate sensor and video data from vehicle and portable equipment onto one screen making it available much faster to many agencies delivering better environmental outcomes in Western Australia.
